Hand-painted Wooden Nandi Heads - 16 inches
Wooden Nandi Bull Wall Hanging/ Handmade and Handpainted/ Decorative Wall Art / Kerala Handicraft
These beautiful hand-painted and handmade cow heads are inspired by the Oachira Cattle Festival known as ‘Irupathattam onam’, which takes place in Oachira Temple, Kerala. In this festival, huge "Eduppu kala" (gigantic idols of bull madeof cloth & hay) are made, and then pulled on giant wheels from the site where they are made to the Oachira Temple. These ceremonial structures are then used in front of hundreds of chariots which parade around the temple during the festival.
These smaller heads are inspired by this Festival.
